Title: Pinot Noir
Style: Light bodied, dry red
Range: Trentham Estate Classics
Vintage: 2009
Winemaker: Anthony Murphy
Reviews:
'As I best understand the back label, this comes from the Big Rivers Zone; that being so, it is an extraordinary achievement by Tony Murphy, for it has the texture, plum and forest flavours and length of cool-grown pinot - and no 'dry red' characters whatsoever.'

'The secret to making inexpensive pinot noir that actually smells and tastes like pinot noir has been mastered by Anthony Murphy at this picturesque riverside winery in the Murray valley, near Mildura. His wine has few peers for value. The '09 may well be the best yet; a wine with varietal refinement that belies its modest price tag. Plum, cherry, spice and a whisper of oak harmonise on the nose in pleasant, juicy intensity. The palate offers succulent, silky fruit in the middle, light to medium body, persistent red berry flavours and a long, pleasantly tapering finish without any edges. Very gluggable.'

'Yet another good-value wine from the Murphy family's vineyard and winery near Mildura. It's light, simple and fruit-driven but smells and tastes like the real thing, with strawberry red-cherry aromas; bright, clean and fresh. It has no pretensions, is true to type and very attractive. Drink young.'
